Give emergency aid to the children in the projects

from €15,000 (86%)

Earlier this year we collected no less than € 48,000 with your support. With this we have been able to provide the children with food packages during the strict lockdown. Despite our great gratitude, help is still desperately needed.

The consequences of the lockdowns are huge

South Africa, the country with the largest HIV epidemic in the world, is being hit the hardest. Covid-19 creates life-threatening situations in the already fragile healthcare system. The cases where people under HIV treatment have no access to their life-saving medication are increasing. In time, this will lead to more AIDS deaths and new HIV infections. Day laborers who have lost their jobs or are temporarily without income as a result of the lockdown cannot buy food. Hunger remains the biggest problem in our project countries. Due to the increasing Covid-19 infections, most school are closed (again) and the children are forced to stay home. Not only are the consequences disastrous for their education, but many of these households depend on the meals we provide their children at school.

Because the children lose their access to nutritious meals, their resistance is low which makes them extra vulnerable when they become infected with Covid-19.

In addition to this, eating daily is crucial when taking HIV medication. Without food, the drugs will not work sufficiently.

Biggest priority?

Making sure we keep feeding the children.

Orange Babies Continues to support these children in every possible way in the fight against HIV and AIDS, and against the consequences of the other devastating epidemic: Covid-19. We can really use all the help we can get.

We sincerely hope that we can continue to count on your support.

For only € 12 you can provide a child of the following:

  • A warm meal daily for two weeks;
  • Covid-19 preventive means such as a mouth cap and soap

Providing emergency aid packages are crucial contact moments where Orange Babies is also involved in:

  • Monitoring the intake of medicines in children with HIV. If medication is not taken for a longer period of time, the HIV virus multiplies rapidly in the blood and the child becomes very ill. In addition, the child can become resistant to the medication;
  • Identifying malnutrition and / or abuse and taking immediate action.

07-02-2023 | 15:03 Waar in Nederland onderwijs vanzelfsprekend is, is dit onze projectlanden absoluut niet het geval. Onderwijs is cruciaal in de strijd tegen hiv. Kinderen die naar school gaan hebben 2x minder kans op hiv. Orange Babies steunt verschillende scholen in Zuid-Afrika, Namibie en Zambia. Dit geeft kinderen een kans op een zelfredzame toekomst én op school hebben ze toegang tot twee voedzame maaltijden per dag, iets waar ouders hun kinderen thuis niet altijd van kunnen voorzien. Een kleine donatie maakt al een gigantisch verschilBenieuwd naar hoe jouw donatie verschil kan maken? Hieronder enkele concrete voorbeelden:  •  Voor € 10,- krijgt een kind twee weken lang gezonde voeding;  •  Voor € 25,- kan je een meisje een half jaar voorzien van maandverband, zodat ze ook tijdens hun menstruatie naar school kunnen.  •  Voor € 50,- kan een kind een half jaar naar school, incl. schoolgeld, schooluniform en schoolboeken;
